Faith Love

“Christian action is therefore a being taken up into God’s action through grace, being taken up into God’s love so that one can love with Him. It is only here that (Christian) knowledge about God becomes possible, for ‘he who does not love, does not know God; for God is love.’ (1 Jn 4:8).” pg 116

I pray that my (our) desire to know God would compel love in faith to develop and grow for my neighbors both near and far. I am encouraged to find that this love is developed in faith and not by my own ability to muster up happy and kind feelings in my heart toward someone else. This faith love proceeds feeling; it precedes any assessments of worth. This faith love is what actually enables us to love even through the greatest hurts and atrocities.

Moreover, when we resolve to participate in this faith love, we come to know God. If this reality does not make your heart stop, I don’t know what will. To know God by loving others in faith. Wow. Think how many of us have searched our whole lives to discover who God is but never quite figure it out. He is known through love.

I pray, dear reader, that you would join me in this quest to know God through loving others in faith.
